Chart Watch

The British are coming! The British are coming! 2008 is turning out to be the biggest year for British music on the US charts in recent memory. Just five weeks after Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" dropped out of the top stop, fellow Brits Coldplay ascend to take the throne. This week, "Viva La Vida" becomes Billboard's 999th #1 hit and Coldplay's first. Radio play helped the track but its big push came from digital downloads spurred on by the band's recent performance at the MTV Movie Awards and their iPod commercial. In the #2 spot is newcomer Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl".
