Chart Watch: Lady Gaga Bows Down To Ke$ha

After three weeks at No. 2 and growing airplay, Lady Gaga runs out of steam as "Bad Romance" drops 2-3 to make way for Ke$ha's "Tik Tok". "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys remains No. 1 for a fifth week.

This is surprising considering "Bad Romance" remains the most downloaded song in the country. Its digital dominance is slipping however, as the margin between it and "Tik Tok" was less than 1,000 downloads. "Romance" continues to rise with radio airplay, cracking the top ten in the radio chart with 13.5 million more listener impressions than last week. That's good enough to make "Bad Romance" the sixth most played song on American radios. "Tik Tok" sits at No. 7 on that chart.

So "Bad Romance" bests "Tik Tok" in both digital downloads and radio airplay, but its behind Ke$ha's debut single on the Hot 100? That doesn't make sense. Billboard has some explaining to do.

Don't worry, I e-mailed them to ask.

1. "Empire State of Mind" - Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys (5th week at No. 1)
2. "Tik Tok" - Ke$ha
3. "Bad Romance" - Lady Gaga
4. "Replay" - Iyaz
5. "Fireflies" - Owl City
6. "Sexy Chick" - David Guetta feat. Akon
7. "Whatcha Say" - Jason DeRulo

9. "3" - Britney Spears
10. "Down" - Jay Sean feat. Lil Wayne
